Pearl Safety were contracted to a large London based Housing Association after their current health and safety provision left the organisation. After initial discussions with the Board and senior managers, it was quickly evident a lot of work was required to ensure the association did not suffer a reduction in its rating. With a direct DLO on board, working in some of the highest risk areas of knife crime and gang culture in London, the gap analysis identified a Red, Amber and Green system and we prioritised actions.
There were a large amount of red actions and we had to assess each in priority and allocate staff to close out. The pressure was intense and during this gap analysis the regulator had taken action against our Client for poor compliance of statutory undertakings.
We drew up a health and safety strategy, which would culminate in the permanent appointment of a Group Health and Safety Manager, and we participated in selection and interview to appoint the right person for the post.
Working with the various teams and senior management meant the association was in a far better place when we departed than it was on our arrival.
