During the construction of four commercial groundmount PV schemes in Northern Ireland, Pearl Safety were contracted to attend site and undertake in-depth audits on two EPC’s. Upon arrival to the first site it was apparent that the health and safety management was not as robust as it should have been. After discussion with the site manager and the EPC global health and safety manager, its was agreed that the site activity would be suspended, pending a detailed review by the EPC.
We worked with the EPC to rectify the concerns and also joined on-site discussions with the EPC on their other projects to ensure compatibility with best practice on other sites. The report to the asset owner identified the shortcomings, but more importantly the willingness of the EPC to rectify the issues immediately. Our recommendations were that the EPC continue to be supplied work under a more robust monitoring period, and this was accepted by the Client.
